ABOUT THE BAR

The Bar is the student representative body of the School of Law (SOL).
With a vision to build an empowered student community, The Bar aims to enable students to make informed decisions in both their professional and academic pursuits. In serving the school community, The Bar seeks to increase the visibility of student-interest groups and enhance the vibrancy of student life in SMU Law. The Bar holds events (both social and professional-academic), and welfare drives for the student body. The Bar also serves as a voice for the student body in its ongoing engagement with the School of Law administration.
KEY EVENTS
The Bar’s flagship summer event, Law Camp, welcomes the incoming batch of freshmen with fun activities and bonding.
End-Sem Welfare provides an opportunity for everyone to get together for a night of relaxation and some good food before gearing up for the final exams.
During Halloween, The Bar hosts a Halloween dress-up competition.

ASCENDO: LAW CAMP 2023
Law Camp is an orientation camp meant to welcome incoming Law freshmen into SMU. This year, The Bar has prepared a fun-filled orientation for you - ASCENDO; LAW CAMP 2023! Inspired by the Ancient Egyptian pantheon, this year’s camp will mark the beginning of your Law School experience. ASCENDO is your chance to get to know your fellow freshmen and seniors at Yong Pung How School of Law, through a series of exciting games, bonding sessions and other fun activities. The Bar hopes to see you at LAW CAMP 2023! Be there or be square!
